THE EMPRESS DANCE BAND
The Empress Dance Band® was purpose-built for the 2005 season of dancing in the world famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom. The aim was to offer its clients another world class band for them to dance too alongside the world-renowned Empress Orchestra® and although the smaller ensemble doesn’t have the same raw power and differing tones of the Orchestra, it has proven to be extremely versatile and hugely successful. All the musical arrangements performed by the Empress Dance Band are unique and of the highest quality (as one would expect from the Empress stable) and all have been purpose written for ballroom, latin & sequence dancing. None of the music performed by us can be heard anywhere else in the world; it’s a truly personalised experience. We have three front-line players who can play at any one time:
Trumpet or Flugelhorn
Alto or Tenor Sax, Clarinet or Flute
Trombone
Vocals & Percussion
The three-piece rhythm section consists of:
Keyboards
Bass
Drums
We also have an excellent vocalist as well.
The Empress Dance Band has been a huge hit over the past three years playing to around 125,000 dancers & listeners in the Tower Ballroom and elsewhere around the country and with its large and well crafted library, encompassing all forms of Ballroom dance, it has proven very successful for both public & clients alike.
Album sales of Hushabye Outcast have gone very well since its release late in 2006 and have been a far reaching success in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Japan & the USA. It received an excellent review in “Dance News” from Bryan Allen and if you are looking for an album for yourselves or your dance classes, then this would be the perfect accompaniment to any collection with many different styles catered for.
Its reputation as a world class dance band has also captured the imagination of the BBC and they have filmed the Band in the Tower Ballroom for an episode of a new Dance/Music programme for CBeeBies called “Space Pirates” to be aired in 2008.
